About this printable

This is a stylish one-page reference you print once and keep by your desk. It is based on the CASS 189 / POCD 188 simplified system, which includes radicals such as 其 and 业 that the older Kangxi system leaves out, while keeping a few Kangxi radicals the CASS list drops, such as 生 and 牙.

Radicals are ordered by stroke count, using the stroke count of the most common form. Variant forms are grouped together, so 西 and 覀, or 己, 已 and 巳, sit side by side. Radicals classed as variants in the Kangxi system are shaded grey, and every radical carries its pinyin, though for many it is more natural to learn the colloquial name.
